Choose the correct ATU application type
Diploma, HND and BTech describe different study routes. Match your intended ATU programme to the choices actually offered in checkout. The guidance here does not add a purchase option or confirm that one voucher covers every route. Check voucher coverage before ordering for a Top-Up, mature or postgraduate application.
Diploma
A separate qualification from HND. Review the five-subject entry route and the programme’s conditions.
HND
Higher National Diploma study with its own subject and grade requirements.
BTech
Bachelor of Technology study. Direct and Top-Up entry should not be treated as interchangeable.

Does Accra Technical University accept D7?
A D7 does not rule out every ATU HND option. The published HND criteria allow A1–D7 within the required six-subject combination, with at least three subjects at C6 or better. Relevant electives and departmental rules still matter. This does not mean D7 qualifies you for every ATU programme: four-year BTech entry has different requirements.
ATU BTech programmes: straight degree and Top-Up
Straight BTech is a direct bachelor’s degree route. BTech Top-Up is a progression route for applicants with relevant prior tertiary qualifications, including an appropriate HND. Check the chosen programme’s requirements; admission level, study mode and duration are not identical across all routes.
Four-year / straight BTech examples
ATU’s current notice includes these direct-degree options. This is a selected list, not the entire portfolio.
- Mechanical Engineering
- Civil Engineering
- Water and Sanitation Engineering
- Computer Science
- Cyber Security
- Medical Laboratory Science

- Hospitality Management
- Procurement and Supply Chain Management
BTech Top-Up examples
Published Top-Up options include the programmes below. A relevant HND normally requires at least Second-Class Lower under the published general requirements; the department may impose further conditions.

- Marketing
- Accounting
ATU Diploma admission and programmes

ATU admission requirements
Start with the requirements for your qualification route. Minimum eligibility is not an admission offer.
WASSCE: HND
For HND admission, WASSCE applicants need six passes from A1 to D7, including English Language, Core Mathematics and Integrated Science (or Social Studies for Arts and Business programmes). At least three of the six subjects must be C6 or better. Electives must suit the programme, and departmental requirements still apply.
WASSCE: four-year BTech
The published general requirements call for credit passes (A1–C6) in English Language, Core Mathematics and Integrated Science, plus three relevant elective credits, with an aggregate of 36 or better. Read the department’s specific subject requirements. The HND allowance for D7 must not be applied to this direct BTech route.
SSSCE applicants
For HND, ATU lists six A–D passes with the required core subjects and relevant electives, including at least three credits. For direct BTech, the general notice specifies the required core and elective passes with an aggregate of 24 or better. Programme-specific conditions still apply.
Mature applicants
ATU provides mature-entry routes for applicants aged at least 25, with proof of age, relevant experience and entrance examinations in English, Mathematics and General Knowledge. The current notice also specifies experience and prior-grade conditions: check the complete requirements for the route you intend to use. Any institutional tuition or examination fee is separate from the EvoucherGhana voucher price.
Technical and equivalent qualifications
Certificate II, access-course and technician qualifications have separate entry routes. International qualifications may require equivalence assessment by GTEC. Compare your exact qualification with the requirements of the intended programme.
ATU cut-off points: eligibility is not a competitive cut-off
Meeting a published minimum does not guarantee a place. Programme selection may depend on relevant subjects, available places and departmental assessment. This guide does not publish speculative course-by-course cut-off ranges. Use the verified entry requirements above to assess your route, then confirm any programme-specific selection conditions.
ATU application photo requirement
Prepare a passport-size photograph measuring 160 × 160 pixels with a sea-blue background. Check both the dimensions and background before uploading it with your ATU application.
